intelligent Coffee Facts

Learning facts that describe to coffee calories, how much caffeine is in it and more information about your beloved drink will help you appreciate your drink more. Why?

Before we sass that let's ask ourselves why we drink coffee. Some may say because they enjoy it or they need it. Some may say that they cannot go on a day without it.

Coffee

Well, anyone the guess is, it looks like we will be drinking and sticking with our cup of joe every morning. Wouldn't it be nice to know more about what were drinking everyday?

So I present with the facts that I have gathered and hopefully you too could appreciate it more:

General / commerce / consumption

1. Coffee is the most beloved beverage worldwide with over 400 billion cups consumed each year.
2. It is one of the most tradeable commodity (next to oil).
3. The top five coffee growing countries are (in order): Brazil, Vietnam, Columbia, Indonesia, Ethiopia.
4. The largest coffee-producing nation, Brazil, is responsible for 30 to 40 % of total world output.
5. There are more than 60 coffee varieties but only four are commercially available: Arabica, Canephora (Robusta), Liberica, Excelsa.
6. 49% of the coffee drinkers believe that coffee is healthy.
7. October 1st is the lawful "coffee day" in Japan.
8. October is the coffee month in the Philippines.
9. It takes 40 coffee beans to make an espresso.
10. The commerce employs more than 25 million habitancy worldwide.
11. The average United States adult drinks 3.4 cups of coffee a day, or about 26 gallons of coffee a year.
12. In Finland, the average adult drinks about 5 cups per day, which makes them the world's largest coffee consumer.

Plants - tree

1. Coffee tree can grow only in tropical countries and is nothing else but damaged by frost. See "Coffee Belt."
2. 75% of the world's coffee comes from the Coffea Arabica plant.
3. The tree needs and average climatic characteristic in the middle of 17 degrees celcius - 22 degrees celcius.
4. There are practically 2000 beans per coffee tree.
5. One tree yields less than half a kilo of coffee per year.
6. Its beans are not nothing else but beans, but the seeds of the cherry-like fruit.
7. Two beans usually grow within each other. If there is only one seed, it's called "peaberry."
8. Coffee "cherries" that have three beans are said to be a sign of goodluck.
9. The tree lives for in the middle of 60 and 70 years.
10. It takes five years for a tree to reach maturity.

Caffeine

1. The whole of caffeine in an average cup of coffee is 100 milligrams, espresso 80 milligrams. The darker the roast the less caffeine there is.
2. The calories in coffee (brewed) that is 8 oz. Is just 2.
3. A 16-ounce caffe latte espresso made with fat-free milk contains 130 calories and 0 grams of fat. When made with whole milk, it contains 200 calories and 11 grams of fat.
