What Is the Worlds Most expensive Coffee?

Arguably the worlds most expensive and exclusive cup of coffee is brewed from beans that have passed straight through the digestive track, and excreted by a small Indonesian animal called the Luwak. This animal is of the order civet and is only native to the area nearby Indonesia and Malaysia in South East Asia.

Many citizen think this coffee is a modern discovery, but this incommunicable has truly been known by locals for well over a hundred and fifty years when the Dutch first created coffee plantations in Indonesia. The Dutch prohibited the locals taking the beans for their own use, so they found that those beans excreted by the Luwak actaully tasted better.

Coffee

The name of this coffee is Kopi Luwak. Kopi is the Indonesian word for coffee, and Luwak, as I've already said is the animal that eats the raw fleshy bean and excretes solid seed of the bean. The dropping are collected, washed, sun-dried and ultimately lightly roasted.

As word has spread about the exclusivity of this coffee, its output has intensified. Thankfully, these animals are not exploited. On the contrary, they are kept as pets and loved by their owners.

During the bean's passage straight through the animal's digestive tract, the enzymes in its stomach seep into the bean and break down the proteins. This results in more amino free acids and shorter peptides. For coffee lovers, this means that there is a determined lack of bitterness in the resulting coffee and a dark syrupy taste.

As mentioned, Kopi Luwak is the most expensive coffee in the world and you can expect to pay about 0 per pound.
